Overview of Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Release Wave 1

Dynamics 365 2022 Release Wave 1 includes hundreds of new features and capabilities that go across all the business apps that make up Dynamics 365, but on this page we focus on the improvements in Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Release Wave 1 which is also named Business Central 20 due to the version number.

Two annual upgrades

Business Central is a comprehensive all-in-one enterprise application whose functionality covers all of the company's business areas, regardless of industry and size. Twice a year, upgrades to Business Central are released. The upgrades are part of the big Dynamics 365 Release Wave upgrade waves, which are launched every year in April and October.

A quick overview of new features in Business Central 20

In Business Central 2022 Release Wave 1, which with version number 20 becomes Business Central 20, we will among other things see further improvements in the application, which focuses on helping both new or existing customers and users to get started faster and to productive use. This means, among other things, that the possibilities in the 'Help' pane are expanded and made the preferred resource to help both new and existing Business Central users.

Other initiatives and improvements in Business Central 2022 Release Wave 1 / Business Central 20 include improving performance in daily operations and ease of use by making menus easier to navigate.

In order to help daily users increase productivity, the reporting features with Excel layouts have also been improved. In addition, Microsoft is continuing its geographic expansion to make Business Central accessible to even more users.

Better integration with Microsoft 365

In 2022 release wave 1, Microsoft prioritizes a stronger reporting history, which includes better integration with Excel. In Business Central 20, Microsoft also focuses on optimizing additional support for collaboration processes to Microsoft Teams so that business users can use Business Central pages in a Teams channel.
